About Gillian.
Hi, I’m Gillian, the doula behind EmpowerMom.
Originally from Scotland, and having lived in Northern Ireland and New Zealand, I moved to California in 2020. My own three babies were born in three different countries, giving me a unique perspective on birth practices internationally. I’ve loved coming alongside moms to support and encourage them through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood ever since I became a mom myself.
As I prepared for the birth of my third child, I discovered a deep passion for learning about all things birth and baby. I am certified with MaternityWise International as a Labor Doula, Postpartum Doula, and in Lactation Education & Support. As a doula, I love helping families understand their options and prepare for birth and life with a newborn. I will champion you—providing hands-on comfort, evidence-based information, and unconditional support.
Before becoming a doula, I worked as a dentist for over 10 years, so I’m very familiar with medical environments and comfortable supporting families through both low-intervention and more medically complex births.
I’m a proud mom, happy wife, and follower of Jesus Christ. I’m always open to pray for you, your baby, your birth, and your family if that’s something you would like—but my heart is for all moms, regardless of background or beliefs.
I offer a free initial meeting (phone call, Zoom, or in person) to discuss your needs and see if we’re a good match.
